ARFID AWARENESS DAY

Sunday 5th July 2026

What is ARFID Awareness Day?

ARFID Awareness Day is an annual opportunity to raise awareness of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. ARFID is often misunderstood as "fussy eating" but it can have a significant impact on physical health, mental wellbeing and quality of life.

ARFID Awareness Day brings together the community of individuals, families, healthcare professionals, educators, researchers and supporters to increase understanding of the condition and advocate for better recognition and support.

ARFID Awareness Day exists to:

Increase public understanding of ARFID and its impact

Push for more accessible treatment and support services

Amplify the voice of people living with ARFID and their families

Inspire conversations that lead to greater awareness and research

How You Can Get Involved

There are many ways to support ARFID Awareness Day:

  • Share information about ARFID on social media

  • Talk to friends, family, colleague or your community about ARFID

  • Support fundraising efforts that help raise awareness and funds towards providing resources

  • Share personal experiences to help others understand the realities of living with ARFID

  • Wear AAUK merchandise to help start conversations about ARFID

  • Take part in our #JumpForARFID campaign.

Every action, no matter how small, helps increase visibility and understanding.

Join the #JumpForARFID Campaign

This year, we are encouraging our community to take part in #JumpForARFID.

The campaign involves taking a photo or video of yourself jumping to share on social media using the hashtag #JumpForARFID.

Each jump represents a leap towards greater awareness, understanding and acceptance of ARFID. By sharing your jump, you can help start conversations, spread knowledge and show support for those affected by the disorder.

Lucy's Big Jump

To mark ARFID Awareness Day, Lucy is taking the campaign to new heights by completing a skydive in memory of her son, Alfie Anthony.

Lucy and everyone involved with Alfie's Spectrum continue to honour Alfie's memory through awareness raising, advocacy, and fundraising activities that help shine a light on ARFID and support those affected by the condition.

Her skydive is a powerful symbol of courage, remembrance, and determination to ensure that more people understand ARFID and the challenges faced by individuals and families living with it.

If you would like to support Lucy's incredible challenge and help raise awareness of ARFID, please consider making a donation through her fundraising page:
